Our Transformation Model
Our model is designed to provide long term truth, instruction, guidance, encouragement, support, and spiritual and emotional growth (all in a healthy environment).
It takes almost a year to go through our program to meet the needs of long term emotional issues. Plus, we want to empower people to experience a transformation for their entire life, not just help them deal with their current issues.
H.O.P.E. groups generally meet once a week for two hours. That time is roughly divided in half between the lesson and Checking In (a time for members to share what he or she is going through and how they feel about it).
The following provides an overview of our model.

What Curriculum We Follow
The 5 Levels of Small Groups
In a typical small group setting, it takes 9-18 months to attain the level of Feelings and 18-24 months to achieve the level of Peak. But we have consistently experienced that our H.O.P.E. small groups can start at the Feelings level and arrive at the Peak level in only a few weeks.
Therefore, our model for small groups enables our members to fully experience the wonderful transforming power of God’s word.
Introductory Level
We also offer the Doorway to H.O.P.E. book as an entry point into our model. Most locations go directly to using the Names of H.O.P.E. book, however, some locations choose to use the Doorway book.
The Doorway book follows the same format as the Names book.
Some people who come to us are not ready to commit to a program like ours because they are not ready to ask for help and fully surrender their issues and needs to the Lord. This book is designed to resurrect hope, expose needs and lies, tear down barriers to making healthy changes and “wet appetites” for experiencing how God can transform us through our pain.
This book is designed as a “warm-up” period and takes 12 weeks to complete.
Other Books
During our program, we pair our members with a Spiritual and Emotional Coach (SPEC). SPECs allow us to extend our ministry by providing additional support for our members through a one-on-one mentoring relationship outside their small group. The analogy used for our member’s need of a SPEC is that of a contractor who can help them with their emotional and spiritual “construction”. Our members need a contractor (SPEC) who follows the plan of the Architect (Jesus Christ) in their life and who can help them rebuild by doing the same thing. Our members need a contractor (SPEC) who can coach them using their own experiences with the spiritual and emotional rebuilding process.
Therefore, this book was designed to empower and equip our SPECs by helping them realize and tap into the knowledge and tools available to them in this role. This book also contains a topical Scripture reference guide for convenient access to verses that can be applied to a variety of issues. In addition, this book was designed to help familiarize SPECs with our organization and what their member is going through.
This book was primarily designed for use by fathers of sons in Level 3 of our model. It centers on seven “statements of truth” that encompass what David wanted to teach his two sons about becoming and living as a man, an authentic man, the kind of godly man described in the Bible. He began telling his sons these truths every night at an early age so they would become engrained in them, as part of their very essence, and his boys would never doubt them. He also spent years preparing for the time when he would elaborate on the full meaning of each truth with his sons, as part of a day of celebration of their entry into manhood.
Those years of preparation became this book, which David published to help other fathers (or father-figures/mentors) train their sons (or any boy) how to become a real man. The hope is that this book will be a blessing and an encouragement to every boy who receives it as he enters into (and lives out) authentic manhood.
