Our Program.

Our program is a Bible study format that was designed for those in pain.  The two primary books in our program, Doorway to H.O.P.E.and Names of H.O.P.E. were written as a systematic and extensive Bible study through God’s principles and purpose for pain, the truth of His character and how He relates to us through our pain, how He can transform us through our pain and how He can empower us to fulfill our purpose in life.  As we teach these principles, we expose the lies that hold people in bondage in their pain and replace them with the truth of God’s Word.  As a result, we believe our program is unique.

Our program arose from our belief that emotional issues result from underlying spiritual needs.  Emotional health and spiritual health are entwined; they cannot be separated.  So we believe that by addressing spiritual needs you can successfully enable transformation that produces emotional wholeness and healing.  In this way, we believe we are appropriately addressing the disease and not just the symptoms.

In our program, we apply God’s truth to painful experiences.  John 8:32 says, “Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”  We shine the light of truth into difficult situations and show how changing our thought process to one like God’s can free us and transform our attitudes, behaviors and understanding of God during painful times in life.  As it says in Romans 12:2, “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.”  We help people stop embracing and fellowshipping with their pain and the lies, and help them start embracing and fellowshipping with Jesus Christ and the truth.

As we teach these principles, we walk with our members through their pain, we help them develop a healthy support network and we help them make the changes that God is prompting them to make.

Doorway to H.O.P.E.

This book is Level 1 of our model.  The 12 lessons in this book focus heavily on Matthew 5:3, “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.”  However, this verse as it applies to our lessons, could be translated better as, “Blessed are those who recognize their need for God.”  This book centers on the Three Truths About Life and how these truths can produce the encouragement necessary to admit we have a need and to commit to making healthy changes in our life.
Doorway to H.O.P.E.

This book is designed to resurrect hope, expose needs and lies, tear down barriers to making healthy changes and “wet appetites” for experiencing how God can transform us through our pain, which can be acted upon by entering a Level 2 small group.  This level also shows how H.O.P.E. is a safe place where you can find the hope, help and support needed to pursue a transformed life.

The lessons are divided in to five sections that provide the background material for the lesson, a

summarythat highlights the truth about the lesson, time for Checking In (a time for members to share

what he orshe is going through and how they feel about it), a list of action items and a list of transforming

benefitsthat result from following through on the action items.

Names of H.O.P.E.

Names of H.O.P.E. is Level 2 of our model.  The 31 lessons in this book provide a more comprehensive Bible study through God’s principles and purpose for pain using Names of God that meet the needs encountered while going through painful experiences in life.  Each lesson relates one of the 13 Greek or Hebrew Names of God chosen for this book to His principles and purpose for pain, the truth of His character in the midst of pain, how He can transform us through our pain and how He can empower us to fulfill our purpose in life.
Names of H.O.P.E.

This book focuses on God’s perspective on our pain and how He wants to use our pain to transform us into the men and women He intended us to be.  It is also a call to action for change by committing to God’s plan for healing, restoration and living out the purpose He has for each of us.  As in Level 1, this book also replaces the thoughts that are based on lies with thoughts that are based on the truth of God’s Word.  In addition, this book expands on the concept of finding the support needed to pursue a transformed life by helping our members broaden their support networks.

Each lesson has five sections that are very similar to the ones described in the Doorway to H.O.P.E. book.

The Spiritual & Emotional Coach's Guide

During our program, we pair our members with a Spiritual and Emotional Coach (SPEC). SPECs allow us to extend our ministry by providing additional support for our members through a one-on-one mentoring relationship outside their small group.  The analogy used for our member’s need of a SPEC is that of a contractor who can help them with their emotional and spiritual “construction”.  Our members need a contractor (SPEC) who follows the plan of the Architect (Jesus Christ) in their life and who can help them rebuild by doing the same thing.  Our members need a contractor (SPEC) who can coach them using their own experiences with the spiritual and emotional rebuilding process.

Therefore, this book was designed to empower and equip our SPECs by helping them realize and tap into the knowledge and tools available to them in this role. This book also contains a topical Scripture reference guide for convenient access to verses that can be applied to a variety of issues. In addition, this book was designed to help familiarize SPECs with our organization and what their member is going through.

The Passage From Boyhood to Manhood:
Seven Truths Fathers Need to Tell Their Sons

This book was primarily designed for use by fathers of sons in Level 3 of our model.  It centers on seven “statements of truth” that encompass what David wanted to teach his two sons about becoming and living as a man, an authentic man, the kind of godly man described in the Bible.  He began telling his sons these truths every night at an early age so they would become engrained in them, as part of their very essence, and his boys would never doubt them.  He also spent years preparing for the time when he would elaborate on the full meaning of each truth with his sons, as part of a day of celebration of their entry into manhood.

The Passage From Boyhood to Manhood

Those years of preparation became this book, which David published to help other fathers (or father-figures/mentors) train their sons (or any boy) how to become a real man.  The hope is that this book will be a blessing and an encouragement to every boy who receives it as he enters into (and lives out) authentic manhood.
